| Case Study: Exotic Solid Wood |
|
|
Business: Interior Design Company
End User: Domestic user
Development: Kensington Flat
Substrate: Concrete
Material: Solid Walnut Planks
Final pattern created by C3 - Chevron with a single plank border.
C3 were asked by an interior design company to create a chevron-patterned floor using rectangular planks that they had obtained.
We had two possible methods to convert the rectangular planks into the parallelogram shape that is required to make the chevron pattern.
The first option was to arrange for a carpentry company to cut down the planks into the desired shape.
However, we chose the second option that was to cut the planks in situ. We pre-empted the necessity of using this method as we had noticed that the planks varied in width. This meant that the length of each plank would have to be tailored to make them fit together snugly.
Finally after we had completed fitting the wood flooring we sanded primed and sealed the wood
Both the client and C3 Flooring were delighted with the end result.
